About Atelier Plant
My name is Linnea Calov, and I am the founder of Atelier Plant. I have a background in landscape architecture and urban design, with experience in projects of varying scales, from residential gardens and community spaces to street design and master planning.

I am originally from Denmark but lived and worked in New Zealand for five years before moving to France. We specifically chose to move to the French Alps because my husband and I are avid snowboarders and mountain lovers, and we also had a lifelong dream of renovating an old stone and beam chalet. And we are currently doing just that.
As a landscape architect, my core values centre around creating landscapes that support local ecosystems, which is essential for fostering a healthy environment.
My approach focuses on designing outdoor spaces that prioritise local biodiversity, effective water management, and ease of maintenance. Typically, this involves incorporating native plants and using sustainable materials to create low-maintenance gardens that thrive naturally.
By promoting these principles, I aim to craft beautiful, functional landscapes that benefit both the community and the environment.
Qualifications
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture & Urban Design from Copenhagen University. Urban design is a specialisation within landscape architecture that emphasises design rather than focusing primarily on urban planning and planning law.
While living in New Zealand, I completed a mentorship programme at NZILA*. Under the IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects), the mentorship programme places the graduate at a level with master’s degree holders.
So, in addition to my degree, I have two IFLA qualifications: Registered NZILA Landscape Architect: NZILA (Registered) and Landskabsarkitekt MDL. As an active member of the Association of Danish Landscape Architects, I continue to find much of my inspiration there.

*The New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA) is a recognised professional body for qualified landscape architects in New Zealand. The institute’s primary objective is to promote the profession of landscape architecture across the country, advocating for appropriate and sustainable protection, planning, design, intervention, and landscape management.
To become Registered Members, individuals must pass a professional practice exam. They are also actively encouraged to continue developing knowledge and skills in their chosen fields.
